Info For Food Buyers

Who are the producers?

The local Colorado farms and ranches who participate in this program use sustainable methods in their production, as noted in the Growing Practices link above.  This information is self-reported by each producer, and Fresh Connections does not verify this info.  If you have any questions about a producer, please contact them directly to learn more about them and their practices.

How Does It Work?

This project is designed to connect local farms and ranches with chefs, grocers, and other wholesale food buyers looking for locally produced food.  Local farmers and ranchers post detailed descriptions of their products and the quantities availability, dates available, and may post pictures of their items currently for sale. The producers set their own prices and are responsible for delivery of products. The website has a tracking system, so that when buyers purchase a certain quantity, the amount available for sale will automatically decrease, and the seller will receive information about the purchase necessary for filing the order. Buyers log onto this website and review the items and production practices listed by the producer and place orders for the products that best meet their needs. Products are organized by product category and producer.

Payment

For ease of use, this site is set up to allow you to purchase from several vendors at a time and make one payment. Payments via credit card are processed securely through PayPal.  Fresh Connections charges a 7% fee to the buyer which covers our administration costs, and website costs.  Our producers will receive their payment via check or PayPal transfer bi-weekly, and after they have delivered the order(s).

Delivery/Shipping

Fresh Connections does not offer a delivery service at this time.  The producers selling from this site are responsible for delivering, shipping, or arranging for pick-up of their items.

What if I have a problem with the order?

If you have any issues with orders not being fulfilled, or delivery problems, or issues with the quality of the items you received, please contact the producer directly.  Billing issues that stem from products not being filled on your order should also be directed to the producer.   If the amount you were charged does not match what the invoice states, please contact us at Fresh Connections.

Why are we doing this?

After dozens of chefs contacted us about setting up an easy way to buy from local farms & ranches, we did some research.  After getting feedback from chefs and growers alike, we saw the need for such a service. While consumers can easily use the Rocky Mountain Growers Directory to contact growers, many prefer an easy to use online service.  Here it is!  Feel free to share your thoughts on how we can improve the site and service.

What if I don’t see a food producer near me?

Join as a buyer and choose our newsletter option.  As new producers join, we will send out a brief email to let you know who has been added to the store.

Disclaimer: Sustainability claims are self-reported by the producers.  Producers are wholly responsible for fulfilling orders and delivering orders on time.  Producers are responsible for the quality of their items.  Fresh Connections does not claim any responsibility for the above.
